5 Ways to Recover from a Bad Day in the Mortgage Business

Small changes in your perspective can produce big changes in your life.

Have you ever had one of those days in the business? The day you find out your best agent is having lunch with a competitor or the day the underwriter places last minute conditions on your file? How about the day the client who promised you their business goes and locks in their loan with your biggest rival?

We all have these days. It is impossible to prevent them from happening, but we can and we must recover.

Here are 5 ways to recover from life’s temporary setbacks.

Focus on your blessings.

Regardless of what has happened, everyone of us has amazing blessings in our life. When you get knocked down, take a moment to reflect on everything you are grateful for in life and in your business. Chances are you will find there are more positives than negatives.

Recount your past victories.

Take a look back through the victories you have accomplished in your business. I kept a book of testimonials that I would refer back to when a defeat came my way. Doing this will allow you to remember that there are clients and business partners who value what you bring to the table.

Schedule lunch with one of your champions.

We all have people in our life that are our champions. Pick up the phone and invite a champion to lunch so you can re-fuel on positive energy.

Send cards to people you need to thank.

Take your setback as an opportunity to encourage someone else. Zig Ziglar once said that you can easily identify a person that needs encouragement. The way you identify them is if they are breathing. When you take time to write out a thank you card to people, you unleash gratitude in your life.

Make a positive post on social media.

Too many people turn to social media as a way to express their frustrations. Be larger than that and intentionally force yourself to make a positive post on social media. That could be a quote or inspiration. By doing this you will not only encourage yourself, but others as well.
